Launched in May, 2021, Persimmon Project facilitates the creation of murals in public and private spaces in Northern Virginia and beyond.
We paint anything! The project was originally imagined to feature native species in the artworks, which most of our art continues to do. By pairing art and biology, we create lasting aesthetic and educational experiences in an ongoing effort in meaningful place-making.
Persimmon Project Murals is named for the persimmon (Diospyros virginiana), a native fruit, which can be eaten after the first frost of the year.
We are woman-owned company based in Fairfax, Virginia.
Full Service Mural Project
You want public art - we take care of it from relevant concept to ribbon cutting. Sites will receive recommendations based on the physical and social space with which they are working. The budget and timeline creation, research, development and distribution of RFP for artists, curation, project oversight, documentation, and more are in Persimmon Project's hands.
Mural Consultations
We work with sites who want a mural and are looking for assistance with finding the right artists. We can provide access to a list of artists suitable for your specific needs, or help in the development of an RFP, and leave the rest to you.
Collaborators
The artwork selection process will always be a partnership between Persimmon Project and our mural sites.
Locations of interest
Parks, schools, transit stations, universities, faith-based communities, private residences, garden centers, eateries, real estate developments, and other public and private spaces.
We respond to RFPs and calls for murals as an artist team, tapping into our portfolio of artist clients who best fit the need described in the proposal. Invitations for submissions are welcome.
We are currently welcoming artists based in Northern Virginia and nearby to reach out if you are interested in being in our portfolio.
